چکیده

The IST-ROMANTIK project focussed on resource management and advanced receiver architectures for multi-hop networks, running from February 2002 for 3 years. A modified UMTS HSDPA system level simulator incorporating relaying nodes was used to confirm gains predicted from a link level analysis of the propagation loss enhancement associated with the use of multi-hop techniques. This paper provides a brief overview of the link level propagation analysis developed within the project. Whilst the link level interference analysis is not presented in this paper, system level simulation results are presented. In particular these indicate that for two specific deployment scenarios a significant increase in coverage, especially at the cell edge, as well as a capacity gain was achievable. However, these gains were shown to be dependent on both careful positioning of the relays and optimal setting of the transmit power. Index terms – HSDPA, Multi-hop, System level simulation

A Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...

A multi-hop PSO based localization algorithm for wireless sensor networks

A sensor network consists of a large number of sensor nodes that are distributed in a large geographic environment to collect data. Localization is one of the key issues in wireless sensor network researches because it is important to determine the location of an event. On the other side, finding the location of a wireless sensor node by the Global Positioning System (GPS) is not appropriate du...

Determining Cluster-Heads in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks Using Multi-Objective Evolutionary based Algorithm

A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET), a set of wirelessly connected sensor nodes, is a dynamic system that executes hop-by-hop routing independently with no external help of any infrastructure. Proper selection of cluster heads can increase the life time of the Ad-hoc network by decreasing the energy consumption. Although different methods have been successfully proposed by researchers to tackle...

Performance Comparison of Link, Node and Zone Disjoint Multi-path Routing Strategies and Minimum Hop Single Path Routing for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

The high-level contribution of this paper is a simulation-based analysis to evaluate the tradeoffs between lifetime and hop count of link-disjoint, node-disjoint and zone-disjoint multi-path routes vis-à-vis singlepath minimum hop routes for mobile ad hoc networks. The link-disjoint, node-disjoint and zone-disjoint algorithms proposed in this paper can be used to arrive at benchmarks for the ti...
